Fast-Track Design
(9 week duration)
Erection Sequencing
A new 13-story, 216,088 sq ft steel framed building housing both office and residential space built over 3-story parking garage in downtown Lexington. Shops and a restaurant will also be accommodated on the main street level. The structural design included verification of parking structure support capacity, weekly tonnage tracking, erection and sequencing engineering, and full connection design.
The design utilized a hybrid lateral design of moment resisting frame with concrete shear walls with link beams to maintain mass over the foundation overturning anchors. The project was a fast-track structural redesign for value engineering from cast-in-place concrete to structural steel frame. The redesign maintained floor to floor heights, expedited construction schedule and saved $5m to the developer from the previous design/bid.
